Transport Minister Dávid Vitézy announced that the government has declared the M86‑M87 fast‑traffic road concession fruitless because the two submitted bids far exceeded the projected cost. The Lumen Private Equity fund linked to Szíjj László offered about 2.033 trillion forints and the Mészáros & Mészáros consortium linked to Lőrinc Mészáros offered about 2.277 trillion forints, 36 % and 53 % above the 1.488 trillion‑forint cost ceiling set by earlier engineering estimates. As a result, the planned Kőszeg–Szombathely–Körmend corridor, intended to improve Trans‑Danubian logistics by 2030, will not be built in its original form. The cancellation was reported by several outlets, including G7, and follows earlier criticism by Vitézy of delayed highway projects.

The minister noted that the decision prevents the state from signing contracts at inflated prices and that other highway projects inherited from previous administrations remain under way.
