Transport Minister Vitézy Dávid rejected claims that purchasing new HÉV commuter trains and InterCity rolling stock would divert funds from other sectors. He argued that replacing ageing vehicles is a core state responsibility affecting hundreds of thousands of daily passengers, and cited past investments such as highway concessions to illustrate that similar projects have not been criticised on the same basis.

He also addressed the upcoming Budapest–Belgrade railway line, noting that testing of the signalling system is still pending. The line relies on equipment supplied by a Chinese‑Hungarian consortium, and while dark‑run trials could begin within weeks, passenger service is unlikely before successful completion of those tests, with a tentative target of September if no further issues arise.
