Hungarian transport minister Vitézy Dávid orders detailed MÁV delay data
Transport and Investment Minister Vitézy Dávid announced that Hungarian State Railways (MÁV) will again publish its monthly delay statistics in a detailed and expanded format. The change reverses a practice introduced at the end of 2024 under former Prime Minister Lázár János, when only a consolidated data series was released each month, masking the full extent of delays.
The minister also restored public access to the EMIG locomotive‑tracking system (available since the end of May) and to the Vonatinfó service (operational again from June). He stressed that publishing more data will not instantly improve punctuality, but it is a necessary step toward transparency: "As a minister I believe that honesty is needed instead of secrecy and arrogance, especially given the difficult situation of Hungarian public transport."
