Hungarian Transport Minister Vitézy Dávid upgrades MÁV+ app and questions Mohács bridge spending

Transport Minister Vitézy Dávid announced a major update to the MÁV+ mobile application, adding a simpler process for buying international rail tickets and new travel‑planning features. The upgrade now lets users purchase tickets for all international seated services that also run domestically, including Budapest‑Vienna Railjet and EuroCity trains, as well as regional lines such as Budapest‑Prague. The refreshed app shows detailed itinerary windows with intermediate stops, schedules and connections, aiming to improve real‑time passenger information.

In a separate post, Vitézy criticized the 451 billion‑forint investment in the Mohács River bridge, arguing that the funds could have modernised the entire Budapest‑Pécs‑Mohács railway corridor. He suggested the money could have supported track renewal, electrification and a new fleet, potentially cutting travel time by about an hour. He noted cost overruns, pre‑election advance payments and a recent decision to widen the bridge design, and said the project will be re‑examined for technical rationalisation.
