Hungarian universities earn top spots in global rankings and host international summit

The University of Szeged (SZTE) was placed at 633 in the QS World University Rankings 2027 and featured in the QS Excellence Ranking, which evaluates institutions on nine indicators including research citations, employer reputation and sustainability. In the Times Higher Education 2026 Sustainability Impact Ratings, SZTE ranked among the world’s top 400 universities and was the second‑best in Hungary, achieving first‑place positions in nine of the UN Sustainable Development Goal categories.

Meanwhile, the University of Szeged’s peer, the University of Szeged’s partner institution the University of Győr, hosted the QS Higher Ed Summit: Europe at the Győri Innovation Park. Over one hundred scholars, industry leaders and policy makers gathered for three days, with Audi Hungaria’s president Michael Breme presenting on university‑industry collaboration. Organisers aim to develop the Innovation Park into a Central European hub for research, startups and technology transfer.
