Hungarian university admission parties attract thousands in Budapest and Szeged

On Thursday, thousands of prospective university students gathered for the Pont Ott Parti in Budapest, awaiting the announcement of admission thresholds. Performers Marci Miskovits, Kristóf Kovács (with the K‑OSZ Disco project) and former X‑Factor contestant Belano entertained the crowd, and backstage interviews captured their reflections on school life and advice for the next generation. After the thresholds were released, celebrations erupted with tears, hugs and spontaneous dancing, and many participants met peers they will study with from September.

A parallel event took place at Dugonics Square in Szeged, featuring a Membrán concert and performances by Marci Miskovits and Molnár Bé. The admission results were announced at 20:00, prompting similar displays of joy. Student self‑government leaders, including Apró Dávid, president of the SZTE Student Government Press Committee, said, “Igyekszünk minden kérdésre válaszolni,” emphasizing the support structures—information stands, orientation camps and peer networks—prepared for the incoming freshmen.
