Hungary and Slovenia strengthen economic and security ties in Ljubljana talks

Hungarian Foreign Minister Anita Orbán met Slovenian Foreign Minister Tone Kajzer in Ljubljana. The ministers pledged to deepen bilateral relations, expand economic cooperation and improve cross‑border infrastructure.

Trade between the neighbours topped EUR 4.6 billion in 2025, with Hungary now Slovenia’s fourth‑largest foreign investor. They discussed establishing parliamentary friendship groups, the removal of temporary border checks, rail connections and a possible natural‑gas interconnector. Security cooperation was highlighted, citing the Regional Consular Crisis Management Cooperation that helped evacuate citizens during the recent Middle‑East crisis. Orbán accepted an invitation to Slovenia’s annual Ambassadors’ Conference and visited the Hungarian community in Hodoš.
