Déryné Festival launches July 15 in Sátoraljaújhely and Zemplén

The sixth Déryné Festival will take place from July 15 to 18 in Sátoraljaújhely and the Zemplén area of northeastern Hungary. Organisers promise more than 50 free programmes, including theatre productions, concerts and family‑oriented activities, aimed at making quality cultural experiences accessible to all ages and strengthening ties between domestic and abroad Hungarian communities.

The four‑day event opens with the play “Tamási Áron Csalóka szivárvány”, staged by the Déryné Társulat and directed by Keresztes Attila. The theatrical lineup also features works such as “Blaha Lujza and the Red Skirt”, “Indulhatunk, Edit néni?”, “Falusi ízek”, and Carlo Goldoni’s “Chioggiai csetepaté”. Evening concerts will include performances by Dánielfy, 4S Street, Bohemian Betyars, Szabó Balázs Band, The Biebers, Cimbaliband and the Déryné Band. Family programmes offer folk‑dance workshops, craft sessions, instrument demonstrations and interactive shows. The mobile “Theater Wagen” will travel to venues in Hollóház, Mikóház, Karcsa and Füzérradvány, extending the festival’s reach to Hungarian communities across the region.
