Miklós Seszták corruption case: associate arrested and foundations identified

Authorities have arrested an associate of former Hungarian National Development Minister Miklós Seszták, who is suspected of acting as a money courier in a major corruption investigation. The individual, identified as K. Zsolt, was detained for 30 days on suspicion of aiding in the acceptance of bribes. The investigation involves allegations that Seszták and the CEO of Magyar Nemzeti Vagyonkezelő Zrt. received over 11 billion forints in illegal benefits between 2015 and 2018 through intermediaries linked to Volánbusz Zrt. contracts.

Parallel investigations have uncovered two asset management foundations, OAK and Hódvár, containing more than 4.1 billion forints in assets. While Seszták is not officially listed as a founder or beneficiary, the foundations are managed by Éva Csilla Hódos, a long-time business associate. Notably, Seszták’s daughter, Sára Seszták, performs the asset auditing duties for these organizations through her family’s law firm. One foundation holds shares in Minotax International Ltd., a Cypriot company previously linked to Seszták’s business circles.
