Hungarian politicians criticize new child protection law

Opposition politicians János Pócs and Balázs Németh have criticized the recent amendments to Hungary’s child protection law, arguing that the changes may weaken protections for children. They expressed concerns that the new regulations could facilitate the entry of certain civil organizations into educational institutions under the guise of career orientation sessions.

Following the legislative changes, a peaceful demonstration was organized in Budapest in front of the Educational Authority. The controversy follows reports of sensitive workshops conducted by a civil organization for primary school students shortly after the law's implementation.

Additionally, the KDNP party has announced an online petition against the law, which they claim allows for 'gender training' in schools. While the law includes provisions regarding pornography and age-inappropriate content, critics argue the revised language and its application may conflict with traditional family values or align with European Union expectations.
