Hungarian Defence Minister files complaints over suspicious spending
Hungarian Defence Minister Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi has filed criminal complaints for breach of trust following an investigation into the previous administration's spending. The audit revealed several suspicious expenditures involving public funds.
Key findings include a 12 billion forint (approximately 33 million euro) consultancy contract awarded without a tender to a British company. This contract covered management training, regulations, and the design of a British-style uniform that was never actually implemented.
Additional allegations involve the misuse of military resources for private purposes, including approximately 32 million forints spent on security personnel for the former minister's private foreign trips, and 42 million forints used to provide security for two private hunting trips. The investigation also identified 34 million forints spent on luxury car rentals for private use and noted that some invoices had been shredded to hide the paper trail.
