Hungary dismisses heads of National Communication and Event agencies
Interior Minister Gábor Pósfai has dismissed Alex Bozóky, head of the National Communication Authority (NKOH), and Mátyás Falvai, head of the National Event Organizing Agency (NRÜ), effective immediately.
The dismissal follows allegations of significant corruption risks within these institutions. The NKOH and NRÜ were responsible for coordinating billions in state communication and event management contracts, many of which were awarded to companies owned by Gyula Balásy. Investigations revealed that in 2025, almost all procurement processes lacked competition; out of 254 contracts, only one had more than one bidder.
Interim leaders have been appointed to oversee both organizations. Their primary mandate is to complete ongoing auditing and investigation processes. The government plans to launch public calls for applications to select permanent leadership for both agencies in the coming weeks.
