Hungary energy expert discusses crisis management and climate impact

Energy expert Attila Holoda has commented on the current political and energy landscape in Hungary. He noted that Péter Magyar has managed the energy crisis more effectively than previous claims by the opposition suggested. However, Holoda expressed dissatisfaction with the first hundred days of the Tisza government, noting that figures from the previous regime remain active and that Viktor Orbán does not appear to fear accountability.

Holoda also addressed the impact of climate change on the nation's energy security. He highlighted that extreme weather conditions nearly caused a complete shutdown of the Paks nuclear power plant in early August. He criticized the previous administration for failing to implement necessary steps outlined in the 2011 National Energy Strategy 2030, despite having multiple terms to prepare for the accelerating effects of climate change.
