Hungary upgrades bus networks in Budapest suburbs and Somogy‑Tolna counties

On July 1, a major revision of the night bus timetable was introduced in the western agglomeration of Budapest. New routes connect Érd, Diósd, Törökbálint, Budaörs, Budakeszi and the Zsámbok‑medence settlements directly to the city centre and key interchange stations. Services such as lines 922, 922B, 988 and several others now run after the last metro, aiming to make late‑night travel easier for tens of thousands of residents.

A separate reform takes effect on August 1, improving inter‑county bus links between Somogy and Tolna. Direct bus connections are established between Kaposvár and Dombóvár, linking villages including Lápafő, Nak, Szakcs, Várong, Gadács, Gölle, Igal and Somogyszil. The schedules provide eight to nine weekday trips and four to five on weekends, and also enhance railway connections to Budapest, Pécs and Baja. Both sets of changes were announced by Transport and Investment Minister Vitézy Dávid, who said the aim is to organise public transport around passengers’ real travel needs rather than administrative borders.
