Hungary expands public transport fleet with new buses and trams

The MÁV Group in Hungary received an additional 20 Credobus Econell Next buses on 11 June, bringing the total delivered to 550 of the 1,000 ordered. The new low‑floor buses, equipped with safety belts, fire extinguishers, USB chargers, Wi‑Fi and a 235 kW engine, are being deployed to Volán depots in Balatonfüred, Esztergom, Veszprém, Székesfehérvár, Szombathely, Zalaegerszeg and Budapest’s Etele Square.

In Budapest, a new CAF tram (unit 2291) entered service, the 91st short‑length vehicle of a 124‑tram order funded by EU and Hungarian co‑financing. The modern, energy‑efficient trams improve accessibility for passengers with reduced mobility and aim to raise the share of low‑floor trams above 40 % across the city’s network. The overall programme will ultimately provide 124 trams for Budapest and 18 for Debrecen, totalling 142 new vehicles.
