Hungary faces factory closures and industrial layoffs

Hungary is experiencing a series of factory closures and mass layoffs following the rise of the Tisza Party government. Notable companies affected include Nestlé and Accel Hunland, while the German-owned WKW Hungária Kft. has announced it will cease operations in Győr by December 31, impacting nearly 200 employees due to restructuring and declining orders.

Economic Minister Péter Magyar stated that the government does not wish to see more assembly plants in the country. Despite these industrial shifts, concerns remain regarding the lack of a dedicated state secretary responsible for employment policy within the Ministry of Social and Family Affairs to support displaced workers.
