Hungary GDP grows 1.5% in Q3 2026

Hungary’s GDP grew by 1.5% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2026, according to a first estimate from the Central Statistical Office (KSH). Economic output also saw a slight increase of 0.1% compared to the previous quarter. Over the first nine months of the year, the economy expanded by 1.7% relative to the same period in 2025.

Industrial production served as the primary driver of growth, fueled by the commencement of production from major recent investments and increased capacity utilization. Specifically, vehicle manufacturing and the production of computers, electronics, and optical products showed strong performance. The services sector also provided stable support to the economy.

However, growth was tempered by a significant decline in the agricultural sector caused by drought. While agriculture represents a relatively small portion of the overall economy, its contraction notably restrained the total expansion. KSH noted that these initial figures may undergo revisions as more precise agricultural data becomes available.
