Hungary grants permanent personal protection to NVVH leaders
The Hungarian government has issued a decree placing the President and the Investigative Deputy President of the National Asset Recovery and Asset Protection Office (NVVH) under permanent personal protection. For the current year, 175,145,937 HUF has been allocated for the protection of Anna Unger and Katalin Tasnády, with funding expected to rise to over 800 million HUF annually starting in 2027.
Additionally, the NVVH has been classified as an entity subject to national security protection. Recent budget reallocations show the agency received 2.48 billion HUF in late August, with significant portions designated for investments, personnel, and operational expenses.
Parallel to these security measures, the Hungarian Parliament's judicial and constitutional committees are in the process of selecting three deputy presidents for the NVVH. Following previous unsuccessful recruitment rounds, candidates for the public finance, prosecution, and appellate deputy roles are undergoing hearings to fill the remaining leadership positions.
