Hungary heatwave fuels political criticism and health alerts
During a severe heatwave and drought in Hungary, a photograph of Fidesz MP János Pócs watering his garden was circulated online, leading to accusations that he was wasting water and electricity. The image prompted sharp criticism on social media, with some users demanding punitive action against the politician for allegedly aggravating the water shortage.
At the same time, Hungarian medical meteorologists warned that, although a cold front is expected, temperatures will remain well above normal across much of the country. They highlighted increased risks for people sensitive to heat, including cardiovascular discomfort, arrhythmias, headaches, dizziness and anxiety, and advised taking advantage of the temporary temperature drop for rest and better sleep before another hot spell arrives.
