Hungary hosts Nagydobrony nature school and Pannonhalma arts festival in late July
The Papilio Nature and Environment Association organised the VIII Nagydobrony Forest School from 20‑24 July. About 70 children aged 10‑17 participated in daily activities that included wildlife observation, chemical experiments, first‑aid lessons, archery, craft work and a bus excursion. The programme was centred on the theme “Home in Nature” and took place at local schools, a fishing pond and surrounding forest areas.
From 21‑23 August the Pannonhalma Abbey will host the 22nd Arcus Temporum arts festival, focused on the “School” theme. Festival director Konrad Dejcsics said it is a place where “music, literature, visual art and spirituality talk to each other and we realise we are siblings.” Actor Pál Mácsai serves as host, with András Keller directing the musical programme that juxtaposes works by Kurtág György and J.S. Bach. Concerts, literary talks by Lajos Parti Nagy and exhibitions by students of the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts are scheduled throughout the event.
