Hungary implements programs for digital parenting and youth empowerment

In Hungary, various initiatives are focusing on the well-being and digital development of children. The Nagykanizsa Central Kindergarten has launched a digital parenting forum titled ‘Don’t look at the screen, look at me!’ to help parents establish healthy digital habits for their children. This program, involving Budapest, Enying, and Nagykanizsa, is conducted with the professional support of the National Media and Infocommunications Authority and Eszterházy Károly Catholic University. Experts aim to provide families with practical advice to navigate age-appropriate device usage and content.

Additionally, UNICEF Hungary is promoting the ‘Your Future is in Your Hands!’ program, which has been running for five years. The initiative encourages children to actively participate in shaping their schools and addressing issues that affect them directly. Viola Szlankó, UNICEF Hungary’s child protection director, highlighted how such programs aim to integrate successful child-rights-based methods into the national education, health, and child protection systems.
