Russia extends gasoline export ban until year‑end, diesel restrictions easing

Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandr Novak announced that Russia will keep the ban on gasoline exports in place through the end of the calendar year. The ban, introduced amid supply shortages that are especially acute in Siberian regions, is intended to stabilise the domestic market after a series of disruptions, including drone attacks on refineries in Ukraine and recent logistics problems.

Novak said the temporary restriction on diesel exports will be lifted once the internal market shows signs of recovery, allowing refineries to operate at full capacity. He noted that Kazakhstan could supply excess fuel to Russia if needed, and that the measures are part of a coordinated effort to prevent fuel shortages and price spikes.

The decision underscores ongoing challenges for Russia’s fuel sector as it balances export controls with domestic demand and external pressures.
