Hungary launches forest education programs and cycling route contest

The 'Forest in School' program has completed its registration for the autumn term, with approximately 1,200 free forest pedagogy sessions scheduled to take place in 400 schools across Hungary starting in October. Aimed at children aged 6 to 14, the program focuses on biological diversity and the forest as a sustainable community. High interest was noted in Pest and Veszprém counties, with cities like Szeged, Debrecen, Székesfehérvár, and Zalaegerszeg showing significant participation.

In a separate initiative related to the Week of Forests, the National Forestry Association and the Forest Sports Department have announced the 'Forest Cycling Route of the Year' competition for 2026. The contest aims to promote active lifestyles, environmentally conscious transport, and the popularity of forest cycling routes. Participants can submit entries for forest paths or connected sections, preferably under 20 kilometers, until September 13.
