Hungary launches Generali Children’s Island Festival as Kifli rolls out summer ice‑cream discounts

The Generali Gyerek Sziget children’s festival opened on Friday on Budapest’s Hajógyári-sziget. The opening day featured the Superar children’s choir, the Majorka Theatre’s performance “A só”, and a concert by Judit Halász. Saturday’s program included the Lóca Együttes, the Belvárosi Betyárok, and an evening show by Kaláka, while Sunday concluded with an Apacuka concert, a performance by Kámfor Bábszínház and a finale by the Kiskalász band.

New festival elements this year include a community storytelling project called “Hajógyári-sziget meséje,” where each child can add a character, setting or event to an evolving story, and the “Gyerek Paradicsom” nature‑focused area with sensory experiences, a garden workshop and health‑checking stations. Interactive booths from Generali, Erste and other partners offered games teaching money management, nutrition, road safety and vitamin awareness.

Separately, online retailer Kifli.hu marked the end of the school year and Father’s Day with a summer promotion, offering up to 40 % off a selection of ice‑cream products and free delivery for members of its Kiflicske Klub. Daniel Szabó, Kifli’s managing director, said the offer aims to reduce shopping time for families and encourage more shared experiences during the holiday weekend.
