Hungary NNGYK promotes early breast cancer detection
The National Public Health and Pharmaceutical Center (NNGYK) is highlighting the importance of early breast cancer detection during breast cancer awareness month. In Hungary, approximately 8,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer every year.
To show solidarity, several prominent buildings near the Chain Bridge will be illuminated in pink on October 3. The NNGYK emphasizes that screening is most effective when performed while individuals feel healthy, as early detection is critical for long-term survival.
Under the organized public health screening program, asymptomatic women between the ages of 45 and 65 receive personal invitations for mammography every two years. National Chief Medical Officer Beatrix Oroszi noted that the effectiveness of these screenings depends on participants utilizing the offered opportunities, regardless of whether they are currently experiencing symptoms.
