Hungary orders liquidation of Kósa-linked agribusiness and raids Óbuda mayor’s offices in corruption probe

A Hungarian court ordered the dissolution of Bászna Gabona Zrt., a grain company based in Mátészalka that was owned by relatives of former MP Lajos Kósa. The liquidation, to be carried out by the National Reorganisation Non‑Profit Ltd., follows the firm’s mounting debts to multiple banks and aims to allow compensation for affected farmers.

At the same time, the Central Prosecutor’s Office launched a coordinated anti‑corruption operation across several municipalities. More than 70 officials were involved, with the National Defence Service and the standby police providing support. The raids resulted in the detention of Óbuda mayor Kiss László and other suspects on charges of bribery, abuse of office, and money‑laundering.
