Reeva instant soups recalled across Europe over Salmonella contamination

Hungarian National Trade and Consumer Protection Authority (NKFH) ordered an immediate, nationwide recall of all Reeva‑brand instant soups and noodle soups after Salmonella bacteria were detected in several product samples. The recall follows the identification of a Salmonella Stanley outbreak affecting 14 European countries, with 106 confirmed cases between November 2025 and June 2026, nearly half of which required hospital treatment, especially children and young adults.

Testing in multiple Hungarian retail outlets found Salmonella in different batches, confirming that the contamination is not limited to a single shipment. Parallel investigations in Germany and Lithuania also isolated the same strain from Reeva products, linking the outbreak to flavored instant noodle products produced by Euro Food Service. NKFH urges consumers not to consume any Reeva instant soup, to return the items to the place of purchase and to claim a full refund. The agency will continue to monitor the situation in cooperation with EFSA and ECDC.

The outbreak highlights the risk that hot‑water preparation may not reliably eliminate the pathogen, underscoring the need for strict food‑safety controls on ready‑to‑eat products across the EU.
