Hungary palace renovation involves high-cost furniture procurement

A 70 billion forint renovation of the palace at Szentháromság tér has been completed, with the building now serving as the Ministry of Interior led by Sándor Pintér. The project was originally commissioned by a background institution of the Ministry of Finance, PM-Tér6, during a period when the Ministry of Finance was led by Mihály Varga.

Procurement details obtained via public data requests reveal significant expenditures on high-end furniture. Notable purchases include a ministerial negotiation table for 15.7 million forints, a ministerial desk for 8.2 million forints, and 19 hand-knotted carpets priced at 5.2 million forints each. Other costs include 187 million forints for 220 armchairs and 125 million forints for 95 sofas.

The renovation contracts were awarded to two companies: West Hungária Bau, owned by Attila Paár, and Garage Ingatlanfejlesztő Kft., owned by Zoltán Szabó. The procurement list also includes hundreds of cabinets and various office accessories, with large storage cabinets alone accounting for significant costs.
