Hungary Parliament Repeals Crypto Validator Requirement

On 28 July 2026 the Hungarian Parliament voted 143‑46‑1 to repeal the national crypto‑validator requirement introduced by the 2024 crypto‑assets law and effective from 1 July 2025. The validator rule had mandated a third‑party approval for certain crypto‑asset conversions and imposed criminal penalties of up to two years' imprisonment for unauthorised services. Finance Minister András Kármán said the measure disrupted the market, prompting firms such as Revolut, MoonPay, Strike and Kriptomat to suspend or relocate services.

The repeal removes the domestic validator step, allowing MiCA‑licensed crypto firms to serve Hungarian clients under the EU framework without a separate national regime. CoinCash, which received Hungary’s first MiCA licence on 20 July 2025, announced it will resume operations following the legislative change.
