Hungary pension updates: 2027 extra payments and eligibility

Hungarian pensioners are anticipating the 13th and 14th month pension payments for 2027. While official dates have not been announced, historical patterns suggest bank transfers from the Hungarian State Treasury typically occur around the 12th of the month. For those receiving pensions via Magyar Posta, a specific payment calendar is expected to be released in November.

Eligibility for these extra payments is subject to specific legal requirements: recipients must have been receiving pension benefits for at least one day during 2026 and must remain eligible for benefits in February 2027. Consequently, individuals retiring for the first time in 2027 will not be eligible for these specific bonuses.

Notably, the 14th-month pension is scheduled to increase to 50 percent of the regular monthly benefit in 2027, up from 25 percent in 2026, as part of a phased four-year implementation plan.
