Hungary: Procurement allegations and religious regulation debates

Former representative Ákos Hadházy has announced intentions to file a report regarding a procurement controversy involving the August 20th national holiday celebrations. Hadházy claims that leaked correspondence suggests Márk Radnai was aware of irregularities in the bidding process. He alleges that the winning company received an unfair advantage by obtaining detailed information about prices and preparations three weeks before the official tender was issued, reportedly through connections involving Gyula Balásy.

Hadházy further identified Miklós Zelcsényi as a primary organizer and criticized the government's lack of investigation into the matter. He argues that the invitation-only procedure was manipulated to restrict competition.

In a separate political development, controversy has arisen following comments by Tisza Party representative János Kiss. Kiss suggested that state regulation should be applied to priestly sermons following a specific sermon in Pétervásár. This proposal has drawn criticism from opponents who argue that such regulation would infringe upon religious freedom and the right of clergy to criticize political entities.
