Hungary promotes breast cancer screening and prevention

In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, health initiatives in Hungary are highlighting the critical importance of regular screenings. While approximately 60% of surveyed individuals claim to undergo regular check-ups, statistical data indicates a significant gap, with the national average for screening attendance sitting between 27% and 30%.

To address this, SYNLAB has introduced the ‘Women’s Health 360°’ program, designed to support women's health through specialized diagnostic services. Experts note that many avoid screenings due to psychological fears regarding potential diagnoses or the discomfort of the procedures themselves. However, early detection remains vital, as many cancers are fully curable if identified in their initial stages.

Community events, such as a pink ribbon walk in Ózd involving the Hungarian Red Cross, have also been organized to promote prevention. Health professionals emphasized that lifestyle factors, including regular exercise, weight control, healthy diet, and avoiding alcohol and smoking, play a crucial role in cancer prevention alongside medical screenings.
