Hungary restores public real‑time train information service

Transport and Investment Minister David Vitézy announced on Facebook that the Vonatinfo website, which provides real‑time positions and delays of Hungarian trains, is back online and freely accessible without registration. The service had been shut down a year earlier after then‑transport minister László Lázár ordered MÁV to halt real‑time data amid frequent network failures. Vitézy said the reinstatement marks a shift toward transparency and railway development, and that further work will bring the data to the MÁV+ web portal and mobile apps in the coming weeks. The revival aims to help passengers track journeys and plan alternative routes more efficiently.
