Hungary retail sales grow 4.9% in July
Hungarian retail trade volume increased by 4.9% in July compared to the same period last year, according to data from the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH). This growth applies to both raw and seasonally and calendar-adjusted figures.
On a month-on-month basis, adjusted retail volume rose by 1.0%. The period from January to July saw a 4.5% increase in volume compared to the previous year when adjusted for calendar effects.
Sector-specific growth varied significantly. The largest expansion was seen in pharmaceutical, medical product, and cosmetic stores, which grew by 9.2%. Fuel retail saw an 8.1% increase, while parcel delivery and internet retail grew by 8.9%. Non-food retail increased by 6.5%, and food and food-related mixed stores grew by 2.2%.
