Hungary school calendar: 2026 autumn break and 2027 school open days

The 2026 autumn school break in Hungary is scheduled to run from October 23 to November 1. The break begins with a three-day weekend starting Friday, October 23, which coincides with the national memorial day for the 1956 Revolution. While All Saints' Day on November 1 is a public holiday, it falls on a Sunday in 2026, meaning no additional long weekend is created by that date. Classes are set to resume on Monday, November 2.

In preparation for the 2027 secondary school admissions cycle, various high schools and technical colleges in Budapest have announced their open house dates. Most institutions will hold these events between October and mid-November. Prospective students are advised to check individual school websites, as many require prior registration for attendance.
