Hungary seeks new directors for all ten national park directorates

The Ministry for Living Environment has announced a call for applications for the director positions of all ten national park directorates in Hungary. The new leadership term is set to begin on November 1, 2026.

Minister László Gajdos stated that the recruitment process aims to move away from previous practices where appointments were sometimes made through recommendations or personal connections. Instead, the ministry intends to select leaders based on professional knowledge, experience, and leadership skills through a transparent procedure.

The directorates are responsible for managing protected areas, state-owned natural assets, and the operation of nature conservation ranger services. Applicants must hold a higher education degree, possess at least five years of management experience, and have professional expertise in fields such as nature conservation, biology, forestry, or environmental science. Additionally, a minimum of intermediate (B2) language proficiency is required.
