Hungary sees 21°C temperature swing as cold front spreads across the country

A sharp temperature contrast of up to 21 °C has developed between western and eastern Hungary as a cold front moves in, bringing scattered rain, showers and occasional thunderstorms. In the west, temperatures have already dropped below 20 °C with a north‑north‑west wind, while the east remains above 30 °C.

The forecast for the coming days predicts variable weather: Wednesday will see clouds and possible thunderstorms from the west, Thursday a mix of sunshine and rain, and Friday another cold front from the north‑west bringing scattered showers and gusty winds. Temperatures are expected to range from 9‑17 °C in the early morning to 21‑28 °C during the day, with higher values of up to 31 °C possible in some regions later in June. The pattern should ease by mid‑week, shifting to clearer, milder conditions with highs around 26 °C.

These weather changes affect agriculture, daily commuting and outdoor activities across Hungary.
