Hungary sets 2026 oral exam dates and admission thresholds; teachers' union calls for technical school reforms
The Hungarian education authorities announced the schedule for the 2026 oral examinations. Upper‑level oral exams will be held from 3–10 June, while middle‑level oral exams run from 15 June to 1 July. Students may adjust the order of their chosen study programmes until 9 July, and the university admission point thresholds are expected to be published on 23 July.
The Democratic Teachers’ Trade Union (PDSZ) issued a set of demands aimed at the technical‑school pathway. It seeks to give technical‑school seniors the same exam break as gymnasium students, to decouple the technical certificate from the high‑school diploma, and to restore the option of taking a professional exam as a separate qualification. The union also calls for clearer pay structures and reinstatement of public‑service contracts for technical‑school teachers.
