Hungary to end teacher training at National University of Public Service

Hungarian Minister of Education Judit Lannert announced that teacher training programs will be discontinued at the National University of Public Service. The announcement was made during a ceremonial senate meeting at the University of Debrecen.

Lannert stated that the government aims to reverse the fragmented state of pedagogical education caused by previous policies. The ministry is working on a process to transition these programs out of the National University of Public Service to ensure a more unified, transparent, and high-quality training system across other institutions.

The reform intends to strengthen theoretical and practical knowledge regarding students with special educational needs, learning difficulties, and diverse social backgrounds. Additionally, the ministry plans to simplify the complex university admission process to encourage more talented young people to enter the teaching profession.
