Hungary to see cooling front and thunderstorms after hot spell

A cold front is expected to move across Hungary early next week, ending the current heatwave with temperatures dropping from the recent 27‑31 °C peaks to a high of about 22‑27 °C on Thursday. The front will bring scattered showers, rain and occasional thunderstorms, especially in the northern‑central mountains where the first‑degree warning has been issued for Borsod‑Abaúj‑Zemplén county.

Overall Sunday weather remains mostly sunny with daytime highs of 26‑30 °C, but isolated thunderstorms may develop in the same mountainous areas later in the day. Ozone levels could briefly approach health‑related limits in the afternoon, though no severe health alerts are expected. Wind will shift to a north‑west direction in many regions, with occasional gusts.

Residents are advised to stay aware of possible lightning and localized heavy rain, while enjoying mostly pleasant summer conditions elsewhere.
