Hungary weather: Mediterranean cyclone brings rain and wind

After an exceptionally dry September, where national precipitation averaged only 15.1 mm compared to the 59.1 mm climatic average, Hungary is experiencing a shift in weather patterns. October saw increased rainfall in several regions, with the Balaton area receiving between 50 and 80 mm and the Tiszántúl region seeing 40 to 60 mm.

Forecasts indicate a Mediterranean cyclone is approaching, which is expected to bring significant rainfall and wind to the southern and southwestern parts of the country. This system may bring up to 20 mm of rain near the Croatian border and 10 to 15 mm across the southern Transdanubia region.

The upcoming weekend is characterized by cloudy skies, occasional rain or showers, and strengthening winds, particularly in the northwest and west. Daytime temperatures are expected to range between 9 and 15 degrees Celsius, with some areas experiencing cooler conditions due to wind chill.
