Hungary weather: Danube levels rise amid ongoing soil dryness

Recent rainfall in Hungary has led to a notable rise in the Danube River's water level, which increased by 23 centimeters in two days at the Budapest measurement point. This follows a period where the river had reached its recorded zero point at Vigadó Square.

Meteorological reports indicate a period of variable weather, with alternating sunny and cloudy intervals. While recent precipitation has helped, HungaroMet analysis shows that soil remains significantly dry across much of the country, with usable water content for plants at only 10–25 percent. This moisture is critical for upcoming autumn sowing and rapeseed cultivation, though current light showers may not be sufficient for summer crops like corn.

Forecasts suggest a transition toward more autumnal conditions, with temperatures generally ranging between 20 and 27 degrees Celsius during the day. A weak cold front is expected to bring increased cloud cover and scattered showers, particularly in the northwestern and western regions, early in the coming week.
