Hungary faces heatwave and Saharan dust as Slovak PM warns of neo-Nazism
Hungary is experiencing a significant heatwave, with temperatures expected to reach between 35 and 36 degrees Celsius. Meteorological services, including HungaroMet, have issued first-level warnings for several counties due to the extreme heat. Additionally, Saharan dust is arriving from Africa, which may filter sunlight and affect air quality and visibility.
While a weak cold front is expected to pass through, it is unlikely to bring lasting relief. Instead, it may trigger scattered showers, thunderstorms, and strong wind gusts. In some regions, such as the Carpathian Basin, high humidity levels are also contributing to increased heat indices.
In a separate political development, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico addressed the 82nd anniversary of the Slovak National Uprising. He warned of the modern resurgence of Nazi ideologies and criticized the political opposition.
