Hungary weather forecast: Mediterranean cyclone to bring rain and storms
A significant weather shift is approaching Hungary as a Mediterranean cyclone moves toward the country, ending a period of stable autumn weather. A cold front is expected to bring widespread changes starting Thursday.
Forecasts indicate that Thursday will see increased cloud cover from the west, with thunderstorms, heavy precipitation, and strong wind gusts of 60–80 km/h likely, particularly along the Kaposvár–Ózd line. Yellow alerts for thunderstorms have been issued for several counties, including Pest, Baranya, and Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén.
The weekend will bring further cooling and unsettled conditions. While some eastern and northeastern regions may experience lingering sunny intervals and warmer temperatures, much of the country will face rain and wind. Daytime highs are expected to drop to between 13 and 20 degrees Celsius. The incoming precipitation is noted as being beneficial for parched soil following recent dry spells.
