Hungary's Education Minister Lannert Judit defends school sexual education amid LGBT debate

During parliamentary hearings for the new education minister, Lannert Judit rejected claims that school sexual education is "LGBT propaganda" and argued that comprehensive sex education is essential and should not be left solely to parents. She highlighted that many children have been "left by the system" and warned that neglecting school‑based education could deepen social inequalities.

MP Radics Béla countered, insisting that sexual education is a parental responsibility and urging the ministry to adopt a clear stance. In related hearings, KDNP MP Zsuzsa Máthé criticised the Tisza‑government's approach to child protection, EU compliance and upcoming changes to laws on pride events and health regulations, describing the policies as a potential threat to children’s rights.
