Hungary's Formula 1 Grand Prix Secures 2032 Contract as Government Reviews Funding

The Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring will remain on the Formula 1 calendar until the end of 2032, with an optional extension that could carry the event through 2037. Prime Minister Peter Magyar confirmed the contract during his visit to the circuit, noting the race’s continuous presence since 1986 and the record‑high attendance at the recent weekend.

Magyar said the government will audit the public spending on the Hungaroring’s recent 90 billion‑forint renovation to ensure the investment has delivered economic and tourism benefits. He also highlighted ongoing talks with Formula 1 chief executive Stefano Domenicali about extending the event’s format.

In parallel, the Széchenyi István University showcased its motorsport and automotive research on the track’s Fan Zone, presenting student teams such as Arrabona Racing and the award‑winning SZEnergy Team, underscoring the university’s role as a strategic partner of the Hungaroring.
