Hungary's Moholy-Nagy University of Art appoints Kovács Csaba as new rector

The Hungarian president and the education minister signed the appointment of architect Kovács Csaba, a Ybl and Prima Primissima award winner, as the new rector of the Moholy‑Nagy University of Art (MOME). His four‑year term, running until 2030, was approved by the university senate and formally signed by President Tamás Sulyok and Minister Lánner Judit.

The change follows the February 2025 resignation of former rector Koós Pál after student protests and a no‑confidence vote. Other candidates included Dutch designer Jurgen Bey and Hungarian architect Vargha Balázs, but the senate selected Kovács Csaba to lead the institution.
