Hungary's National Film Institute forms temporary decision panels

The Board of the Nemzeti Filmintézet (National Film Institute) appointed interim film and television decision committees to handle the backlog of applications and urgent matters during a leadership transition. The committees, chaired by Dr. Tóth Csaba, include producers Pataki Ágnes and Tóth Csaba, dramaturg Zabezsinszkij Éva, with film director Zurbó Dorottya serving as a deputy member.

The temporary bodies are tasked with processing accumulated funding requests, ensuring continuation of ongoing projects, and approving distribution, marketing and special‑case applications. Existing script‑development, production‑pre‑preparation and production grant programmes are suspended until 24 July 2026, while the institute will continue to support its Incubator programme, festivals and other film‑sector events.

The interim board, installed on 10 July, comprises Pataki Ágnes, Pál Ákos and Julianna Ugrin, and will remain in place until a permanent leadership is appointed.
