Hungary: NAV investigates film funding and launches nationwide audits
The Hungarian National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) has launched an investigation into the use of state funds for the film ‘Most vagy soha!’, produced by Philip Rákay. The investigation, ordered on September 24, focuses on potential budgetary fraud regarding the 4.7 billion forint in state support provided for the production.
Simultaneously, the NAV has initiated widespread inspections across several Hungarian counties, including Pest, Baranya, Hajdú-Bihar, Komárom-Esztergom, Nógrád, and Somogy. These audits target various sectors such as autumn festivals, outdoor events, stationery stores, hospitality, and construction sites, focusing on receipt issuance, online cash register compliance, and employment regulations.
Additionally, the government has tightened regulations regarding the use of distinctive light and sound signals (blue lights) on vehicles. Under a new Ministry of Interior decree, only the Minister of Interior may use vehicles for police protection. Other entities, such as the Sándor Palace and certain ministries, must now obtain specific permits to use distinctive markings, with existing permits subject to review and potential revocation.
