Hungary's observatories host public viewings of Moon‑Venus and Moon‑Antares conjunctions

On July 17, a rare daytime conjunction of the Moon and Venus will be visible across Hungary. The Moon will appear at about 50° altitude around 15:30 CET with 13.5 % illumination, and Venus will be positioned roughly 2° to its left. The pair will remain observable until shortly after sunset, when the Moon reaches the western horizon at about 22:07 CET and Venus follows a few minutes later.

A week later, on July 24, the Svábhegyi Observatory in Budapest will organize an evening program to watch the Moon’s conjunction with the bright red supergiant Antares. At 22:00 CET the waning Moon will rise low in the southern sky, with Antares appearing about 1.4° to its left. The event will be accompanied by a concert featuring space‑themed music by the Keep Floyding band, after which visitors can observe the conjunction through telescopes under the guidance of astronomers.
